Meet the Sequoias Guides

Alan Bradford - Knoxville, TN

Alan is the co-founder of Sequoias Coaching & Consulting and has come alongside organizations around the world as a trusted guide. He has over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit world and enjoys helping leaders and their teams become the best versions of themselves. Alan is the Training Director for Forge America where he oversees training for Forge leaders across the nation. He partners with denominational and church leaders around the U.S. as a coach and consultant.

He holds a degree in Ministry Leadership from Johnson University, is a certified coach through Five Capitals, Forge, and Coach Approach Ministries, a certified Vision Strategist and Process Consultant through Auxano, and is a registered chaplain with the International Conference of Police Chaplains. He serves as a Chaplain for the Knox County Sheriff Office. He is currently working towards an ICF certification.

Derik Heumann - Ann Arbor, MI

Derik Heumann joins Sequoias with 20+ years of experience leading himself, teams, and organizations. Derik’s passion for organizational leadership and developing healthy teams started at age 11 through Boy Scouts of America. Derik has served and held positions within churches, non-profits, and academic institutions. Derik is a lifelong learner, an entrepreneurial leader, church planter, pastor, trainer, and coach.

Derik holds M.Div. and M.A. degrees, along with a leadership certificate from Asbury Theological Seminary, is a certified coach and trainer through Forge America, Dynamic Church Planting International (DCPI), and Mission Igniter. Derik also serves as a hub leader for Forge America and as a board member of Mission Igniter: a church planting incubator. Derik is an ICF certified coach.

Derik, his wife Kim, and 3 children live in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Terry Ishee - Salem, VA

As the co-founder of Sequoias Coaching and Consulting, Terry Ishee has guided organizations all over the country as a “vision strategist” and executive coach. With 25+ years of experience in organizational leadership and coaching with businesses and nonprofits, Terry helps maximize leaders by helping them find a way forward in this disruptive market landscape. Terry’s expertise lies in developing leaders based upon clarified vision. He brings a breadth of leadership and knowledge from his proficiency of coaching executive leaders and multiple leadership teams in the vision arena, especially around organizational clarity, department alignment, and team synergy. Terry has demonstrated achievement as a strategic thinker with a unique ability to bring a group of people to a deep sense of personal ownership and passion.

In addition to receiving coaching certifications from Corporate Coach University, Five Capitals, and Forge America, Terry holds certifications in several leadership assessments for helping leaders grow in emotional intelligence (EQ), cultural intelligence (CQ), leading self, leading organizations, organizational revitalization, and entrepreneurial endeavors.

Terry lives in Salem, Virginia, with his wife Amy and daughter Bethany. Together they seek justice and reconciliation in their neighborhood and local schools by opening their home to others and working with at-risk students.
